SOR-ZS01 – Zinc Stearate

Zinc stearate is a white, hydrophobic powder that belongs to the family of metallic soaps and is obtained by the reaction of fatty acids with zinc metal. A prominent feature of this compound is its very small particle size with a diameter of less than one micron. The most important thing about zinc stearate is that this lubricant is free of zinc in the form of metal because zinc metal leads to polymer failure. Its ability to lubricate, repel water, high melting point and compatibility have made it a useful material in everyday life and industrial applications. This compound has many other unique properties such as gelling, stabilizing, foam inhibitor and as an acid cleaner.

Application:

Zinc stearate is used as an important material in the polymer industry. This material is used as an internal lubricant in molding powders and as a mold lubricant, etc. The most important applications of zinc stearate include external lubricant in the plastic and polymer industries, matting agent for various types of plastics and polymers, dispersing, releasing and spreading agent for colors in various masterbatches, and sanding agent. This material is also used as a lubricant to improve the texture of cosmetic products and has antiseptic, topical and astringent properties.
