SOR-CS01 – Calcium Stearate

Calcium stearate is a versatile compound that has a wide range of applications in various industries. As a derivative of stearic acid, it appears as a white waxy powder and its most important feature is its insolubility in water and stability to heat. This compound plays multiple roles and acts as a stabilizer, lubricant and release agent in manufacturing processes.

Calcium stearate, which is known to be physiologically safe, has recently gained increasing importance as it is insoluble in most solvents. It only dissolves in aromatic compounds when heated, chlorinated hydrocarbons or vegetable and mineral oils and waxes.

Application:

Calcium stearate is mainly used as a lubricant, mold release agent and acid scavenger in the plastics industry. The pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry uses calcium stearate as an anti-caking additive for powders and granules and as an additive for tablet compression. In the construction industry, it is used as a hydrophobic agent to prevent moisture absorption and protect building and construction materials.
